Total respect.

I love her.

She donates so much she went from “billionaire” to “millionaire.”

MAD respect for that.

Listen to J.K. Rowling, and put your money where your mouth is, 1%.

I think there really needs to be a cultural shift among the wealthy. It’s very inspiring to hear Jo telling it like it is.

Commission piece done for 3dartistonline.com as a tutorial on 3D sculpturing. Appropriate too, because my skull is also filled with unreadable script.

The All-Purpose Virgin Mary by Soasig Chamaillard

For years now, Soasig has been the patron saint of holy Geekerie, repurposing statuettes of the Virgin Mary and returning her to the people, regardless of creed or fandom. To complete your very own basement shrine to obsessive pursuits, prints and books can be purchased at galerie-albane.

A note to myself.

Confidence.
A lack of confidence is rather quite destructive. Especially for someone trying to be a writer. Why is it that one should feel so hard pressed to get it right on the first try? That should be the joy of writing your own story. I mean, it’s called a first draft for a reason. Isn’t it? No one has to read it as soon as you get it done, and even if someone does, it doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to change it. One should simply be able to start writing, knowing that it will most likely change. Especially if you’re a rookie. Maybe that’s one of the things that makes one a rookie. Not being able to get their head around that fact.  Wanting to get it right as soon as you start and having a lack of confidence is pretty damn suffocating. The 2 don’t mix. It’s a huge form of restriction. It’s a vicious circle. Writing something expecting it to be perfect, then realizing it’s not, so instead, the lack of confidence in what you wrote makes you compelled to rework the short paragraph you just wrote instead of continuing the story and coming back to fix it later. Therefore, it makes you loose sight and the flow of your work.

Writing should be fluid. You should be able to continue the work without having to over think it. Yet ones self doubt Compels you to stop dead in your tracks and wonder if it’s good enough. If it’s captivating enough to hold the readers attention. It makes you forget that it’s the first draft and when you’re done and you proof read it, you have the option to alter it later in the second draft. It makes you feel restricted. Like you have to get it right the first time, or not at all. And the result is destroys the creative juices from flowing because you get so hung up on that one little detail that it becomes frustrating, and you end up procrastinating for the rest of the night in search of something to help your creativity to flow out of you again. Yet the only thing you’re doing is inspiring the WANT to be creative and not the actual creativity.

In order to get the creative juices flowing again, you can’t restrict yourself to one paragraph. You have to keep pressing forward and continuing the work as a whole, not just a small bit at a time. Let the story flow out of you and don’t over think it. That’s the first draft. Then go back and add more details and alter others. That’s the second draft. And continue the process with each new draft to follow, until you finally have something you can be confident that YOU are happy with it.
